Jean's Obituary

RIPLEY- Jean A. Bemis Eimers, 87, of Ripley, NY, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital in Jamestown, NY, following a brief illness. She was born August 17, 1938, in Corry, PA, the daughter of the late Charles and Stella Crawford Bemis.

     Jean had attended Ripley Central School. She worked as a Baker for Quality Markets in Westfield, NY for many years and was also a Bus driver for Westfield and Academy School. Jean had a strong Christian faith. She loved animals and had many dear pets in her lifetime and also enjoyed knitting, drawing, crafting, cooking, and spending time with her family. 

     Jean is survived by two children, Eva M. Briggs of Sherman, NY and Patrick (Sharon) Eimers of Blairs, VA, four grandchildren, Jessie (Mary) Briggs of Mayville, NY, James (Krista) Laflamme of Cameron, NC, Megan Eimers of Hendersonville, NC and Joshua (Cori) Fournier of Marango, OH, five great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, one sibling, Gloria Arnold, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Eimers, whom she married on October 10, 1956, in Ripley, NY; a son-in-law, Howard Briggs; and a sister, Shirley Eimers. 

     At Jean’s request, there will be no public services held. A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family. 

     Memorial donations can be made to the Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue (7540 N Gale St, Westfield, NY 14787).
