I had the pleasure of meeting Ms Jean years ago (Jcp jewelry)and I knew she was a special lady. And after reading the very endearing orbituary it was not only a pleasure but also a blessing and privilege. Prayers going up for strength peace and understanding.

Thank you for being in my life. You taught me about the lord at an early age. I will never forget all the talks we had when I visited you on Stovall Street. You were like a mother to me as I often visited. Until this day I will always remember what you told and taught me about Jesus. I will continue to tell others about Jesus from your teachings. You will be truly missed by many but especially me. I’m praying for the family and may God be with you all at this time. May you take rest now but...

Jean's Obituary

Jean Claire Williams

Jean Claire Williams was the first of eight gems deposited in the family of Willie and Carrie Williams after three boys and before an assortment of males and females which totaled twenty. An active, very vibrant child who loved to read, Jean spent much of her time enjoying books.  Eager to learn, her early years of education began with first grade at St. Lucy Catholic School and continued through elementary, then middle, high school and Nicholls State University progressively. Upon completion of high school she was united in marriage to Clarence Trahan and to their union four children were born. Jean learned early in life about God.  She began her journey to know Him for herself, sometime risings, sometimes falling, often setback but she was determined to serve the Lord. Jean was called of God to ministry on May 5, 1981. She received Evangelistic and Soul Winners credentials from Community Bible Institute of Brooklyn, New York.  In 1983 Jean was ordained in Houma, Louisiana by Reverends Donald Kinsey and Louis Monday.  Following her ordination, she served diligently as pastor of Full Gospel Outreach Center of Houma until 1988. Pastor Jean, as she was lovingly called, was led of the Holy Spirit to pursue her Christian Education at Caleb School of Theology in Compton, California.  She excelled in Biblical studies.  She received honors upon graduation from Zoe Leadership Training Center of Los Angles, California.  Additionally, Jean acquired her ministerial covering and ordination from Dr. Philip G. Goudeaux, Pastor of Calvary Christian Center, Sacramento, California. Coupled with her faith and divine confirmation from God, Jean served unselfishly as pastor of J O Y Full Gospel Ministry for over twenty years.  She taught prayer weekly in various churches, served God diligently, and led many to Christ.  Her favorite question to all that she met was, “Do you know Jesus?” She was actively involved with Godly Women of Prayer United, Church of Hope (Miami), and Christian United Worldwide.  Jean served as pastor of Know the Truth Ministry of Gray, Louisiana until she was called home to heaven. Mother of four adult children, grandmother of nine grandchildren and great grandmother of nine great grandchildren, Jean touched each with love, time and devotion, in her own special way.  They will all share a legacy of love, dedication and devotion to Almighty God. The family of Jean Claire Willams will forever be blessed with memories of her steadfast allegiance to God and His holy word.  She was devoted to her siblings, Earl Williams of Illinois, Gene Williams of Los Angeles, Joel Lewis (Ralph) of Moreno Valley, California, Bertha Williams of California, Leroy Willams (Houma), Lionel Williams (Velma) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Dr. Dianne Culmer of Georgia, Gwendolyn Williams of Indiana, Charles Williams (Sandra) of Gonzales, Louisiana, Debra Jones of Houma, Louisiana,  Cheryl Williams of Springfield, Maryland, and Wayne Williams (Carolyn) of Houma, Louisiana.  She was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Carrie Williams, her siblings Calvin Williams, Adrian Williams, Clyde Williams, John Williiams and Albert Williams. Cherished and loving memories will remain forever with her children, Roland Charles Trahan of Houma,  Gwinette Trahan Pierce (Lawrence) of Boutte, Louisiana, Sherita Trahan Oubre  (Cornelius) of Arnaudville, Louisiana and Jerelyn Trahan Key (Perry) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. With special memories she departs with love for her grandchildren, Koti T. Alvis (Burnell) Lauren J. Pierce, Dr. Bethany R. Oubre, Jerren M. Pierce (Vanessa), Lindsey L. Key (Sabrina), Roland T. Celestine, Jordan M. Oubre (Shauna), Maia K. Weary (Michael), Christian F. Key.  Additionally, loved and cherished were her great grandchildren, Rylan J. Gaudin, Rennin P. Gaudin, Jackson M. Pierce, Ezra R. Weary, Rae’lynn A. Celestine, Jacob M. Pierce, Olivia R. Oubre, Hendrix C. Oubre, and Evie R. Weary. The greatest gift in death is knowing that your loved one has transitioned to a mansion in heaven.  Even in near death days, Jean shared Jesus with others, doctors, nurses, people in general were asked the question, “Do you know Jesus?”   We are certain that while we will miss her dearly, she has moved to the home that God has prepared for her.To all of our cousins, distant family and friends, God bless you! A special thank you to Bishop Richard and Pastor Effie Moore and Pastor Patricia Allen who were warriors with Jean to the very end.  May God’s richest blessing be yours. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of LIfe Service on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Plymouth Baptist Church, 1000 Wallis Street, Houma, LA 70360 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment Deweyville, LA., Houma, LA.
