Jeanne was born on August 10, 1957, in Auburn, New York, to Carl and Joanne Wood. Jeanne grew up in a large and lively family where she learned the values of love, faith, and resilience. Those early lessons shaped the strong, spirited, and selfless woman she became.
Jeanne was known as a firecracker- full of life, laughter, and determination. She had a fierce love for her family and was never afraid to stand up for them or anyone in need. To her children, she was both a protector and encourager, never backing down when it came to defending them. Jeanne lived with a readiness to help anyone and was always prepared for any situation, whether it was carrying her famous “snake bite kit” just in case, or simply lending a listening ear. She had many lifelong friends whom she cared deeply for and with whom she shared special, treasured relationships.
Her Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. Jeanne held a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother, whose love and protection gave her strength in times of trial and peace throughout her life’s journey.
Jeanne is survived by her devoted husband of almost 48 years, Steve Deatherage; daughter, Tracie White and husband, John; three sons, Randy Deatherage and wife, Kayla, Brian Deatherage and wife, Alyson, and Cody Deatherage and wife Ashley; She was the proud and adoring grandmother of Lindsay, Hailey, Oliver, and her unborn grandson, all of whom were the light of her life. Her grandchildren were her everything, and she treasured every moment spent with them; also, she is survived by her three siblings, Dan Wood and wife, Carol, sister, Martha Marsden, and brother, Joe Wood and wife, Kelly; and multiple nieces and nephews; and her dearest cousin and best friend, Johanna Wood.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Joanne Wood, and her brothers Ken Wood and Jim Wood.
Her family takes comfort in knowing Jeanne has been welcomed into the arms of Our Lord and rests under the loving mantle of the Blessed Mother, whom she cherished so deeply.
