It is with great sadness and yet a blessing that we share the passing of Jeannette Therese Skowron (nee Kudla), loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. On the afternoon of November 3, 2025, with immediate family near her side, Jeannette peacefully left this earth at the age of 91.
Born on New Year’s Eve 1933 in Chicago Illinois to loving parents, Adolf and Lillian Kudla, Jeannette was known for always ensuring a celebration for her birthday and many occasions, and she would never disappoint us with her love for life. She grew up in Chicago with her two older brothers Ray and Otto who always watched over her, but like brothers teased their little sister. Jeannette was very fond of her childhood family dog, Maizy. Jeannette met the love of her life Edward Skowron, who was the neighborhood boy down the street and they married on September 12, 1953, 72 years of love, laughter and companionship. Jeannette worked for “Ma Bell” in the billing department until Edward & Jeannette started their family. Jeannette was a devoted mother to her children, Randall (Kathy) Skowron, Jill Skowron and Lois (Gary) Mueller, proud and active grandmother to her five grandchildren: Kelly, Kevin, Stephanie, Ryan and Cameron. Jeannette was overjoyed when she became a great grandmother (GG) to Chloe and Tyler.
Jeannette created a loving home for her family. There were always homemade warm meals, fabulous desserts (e.g., klotchies, Christmas cookies), clean clothes, support with school homework, and many, many family activities like Sunday game day (e.g., Card Game: Help Your Neighbor). Jeannette had a green thumb and loved gardening. Her flower gardens were always plush and colorful with not a weed to find. Jeannette’s harvest from her vegetable gardens were always welcomed in the summer and beyond as Jeannette and Edward enjoyed pickling and canning together. Jeannette was a very talented seamstress. She made beautiful clothes, Halloween costumes and a Santa Suit to give that extra touch at Christmas. Jeannette would be her very own travel agent and map out the fun-filled family vacations.
Jeannette was well organized, resourceful and persistent. Having a child of special needs, Jeannette sought every avenue to provide her daughter, Jill the best quality of life. Jeannette and Edward actively raised Jill who now resides at Misericordia Home, a community where their daughter flourishes further. Jeannette actively volunteered for 38 years at Misericordia in the Development Office along with many, many fundraising events. She always joked that she earned a gold watch when she was unable to volunteer any longer.
Jeannette will be deeply missed by all who knew her and her legacy will live on in the hearts of family and friends.
Rest in eternal peace, dear Wife, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma. May you fly happily with the Angels and watch over us.
