My condolences to his wife, children & family. Jeff was genuinely a good guy & friend. He was a “Jack of All Trades” that took care of my lawn, car, plumbing & whatever else needed to be done. He’s was funny & loud & didn’t care who was watching. He was one of a kind. Jeff had just finished revitalizing my rental property when we got the news. This hurts to my soul. You will truly be missed my friend. RIP. Praying for strength & healing for the family.

Obituary

Jeffery's Obituary

Jeffery Lynn Bell, Sr age 55 of Gary, Indiana departed this life on February 12, 2026 surrounded by his wife and children. He was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on May 20, 1970, to the parents Jesse and Laura Mae Belle, Sr and was the fourth child of seven children. Jeff was known as “Pig” to family and friends.

His way of speech may have seemed harsh but was honest in a way that was refreshing. He taught through tough love and told what people needed to hear even if it hurts. Jeff knew his faults and tried to steer his children away from making decisions that could ruin their lives in the future.

Jeff was known all around the city of Gary for his work and love for cars and mechanical work. Throughout his years of dedication and perseverance, he not only built a career but a reputation for reliability, excellence, and his integrity. Jeff never asked for recognition, only a chance to do things right. His strength and value of independence spoke volume. His love and charismatic spirit brought comfort and drew people in. Jeff believed in providing for his family, keeping his word, and persevering through every job no matter how big or small it may seem. His legacy of strength and humility will live on for those who had the privilege to experience him. Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents Aaron (Laura) Bell, Sr and Henry (Geneva) Grant, Sr.

Jeff leaves to cherish his precious memories and love to his devoted wife of 31 years; Paulette Belle and five children; Jeffery L. Bell, Jr of Louisville, Kentucky, Durante J. Belle of Gary, Indiana, T’jerika R. Belle of Indianapolis, Indiana, Latonya J. Belle, and Latrice D. Belle of Gary, Indiana. His parents; Jesse (Laura) Belle, Sr, six siblings; Jesse (Carolyn) Belle, Jr, Beatrice Jemison, Vincent (Lakeisha) Bell, Sylvia Belle, Janice Belle, and Derrick Belle all of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
