Jeffrey Michael Delacruz, 63 of Waterford, died Tuesday July 22, 2025, at the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. He was a true courageous fighter until the end.
Jeffrey was born October 11, 1961in Groton to Clemente Delacruz and Gloria Neto Delacruz, they preceded him in death.
He worked at a Foxwoods Casino and Electric Boat as a plumbing engineer. Even though he was a hard worker, he had fun doing it. He made sure he lightened the task with his humor and made his coworkers laugh along the way.
Jeff was a truly an original. He wore “out of the box” shirts and had an abundance of clothes, shoes, and hats to coordinate his outfits. He liked fishing, playing guitar and listening to 80’s rock music. Jeff had a specific weakness…impulse buying TV ad products. He had many gadgets and contraptions to do almost anything. Some of the items created laughter. He strived to have everyone laughing in the room.
Jeff had a sensitive side as well. He would make sure everyone had a meal in their belly and a shirt on their back.
Jeff loved each member of his family in his own unique way. He is survived by sons: Nicholas Delacruz and his wife Rachel, and Aaron Delacruz; daughter: Kory Desautels and her husband Nicholas; brothers: Clemente “Butch” Delacruz, Kenneth Delacruz, Mark Delacruz and David Delacruz; grandchildren: Caolan Johnson, Reilly Johnson, Lilliana Desautels and Olivia Desautels. His cats, Ramsey and Caesar, they were like family to him.
Also, a special “thank you” to his niece Alicia Lyda and her husband Jeremy, who provided care and companionship to the last few years.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by sister Mona Kupka
A Memorial Visitation is scheduled Tuesday August 12, 2025, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington Street in New London.
