Not sure what to say?

Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole Gier family at this time . Jeff was a great man.

Jeff was a friend for 25yrs. We recently met up at the Cancer Center . He was a good friend . RIP Jeff Joe & Coleen Boyd

I´m very sorry for your loss. Judge Gier was knowledgeable, fair, and truly kind. He cared deeply about his community and served with integrity. He will be greatly missed.

Terri, Nick and Sam...I just loved your dad, husband ! He always had a big smile and cheery disposition. He and I " talked rocks" and every year he donated some limestone chips for my erosion lab. I also have a beautiful fossil rock he brought to me one day which is in my flower garden forever. It is a testament to his big heart. Rod and I would see him around town and so enjoyed talking with him ! He will be very missed. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family.

Dale and Kim-

So sorry to hear of your brother/brother-in-law's passing.
Sending prayers to you both.

Take care.

Kathy Hubbard

Growing up together with memories that will last forever. Jeff will surely be missed by all that knew him.

So sorry for your loss. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Though no obituary can sum up one’s life, this one did a great job! Jeff was soft spoken rock of a man. He was kind hearted yet firm. I enjoyed the times I spent with Jeff, would love to have a few more of those.

I’m so sorry, Terri

Obituary

Jeffrey's Obituary

Jeffrey Gier, 70, of Brant, New York, passed away February 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Jeff was a devoted husband of 37 years to Terri (Schmitt) Gier, and a proud and loving father to Nicholas (Nicolette) Gier and Samantha Gier.  He was a cherished brother to Joseph (Jeanette) Gier, David (Evelyn) Gier, Dale (Kim) Gier, Beth Gier, and Brad (Lia) Gier, and brother-in-law to Dwayne (Amy) Schmitt, Janet Bossert (Dave Carlson), and the late Carolyn (James) Mathis, and a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Eleanor (Catalano) Gier.

Jeff devoted much of his life to public service — first as President of the North Collins School Board, then as a Town of Brant Councilman for four years, and ultimately as Town Justice for 12 years.

Along with serving his community, Jeff devoted more than 30 years to Gernatt Asphalt Products.  Prior to that, Jeff owned and operated Gier Development, Inc.

Above all else, Jeff was a family man.  He was present, dependable, and deeply proud of his wife and children.  His legacy is one of service, strength, and quiet dedication — to his family, his work, and his community.

Friends may call on February 27th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Wentland Funeral Home, 10634 Main Street (Route 62), North Collins, NY.  A funeral service will be held on February 28th at 10:00 a.m. at Wentland Funeral Home with a luncheon to follow at the Brant Fire Hall.
