Sue was one of my beautiful mentors at First Baptist Church. She was Jesus’ hands and feet in Sanger as she served our church family and community. Sue was a role model who we will truly miss. Praying for her sweet family.

Jerilyne Sue Trego, age 81, went to her eternal home in Heaven on July 12, 2025, surrounded by family at her home in Sanger, Texas.
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on February 24, 1944, Sue was the daughter of Dore Dow and Jerry Ann (Harelson) Stephenson. She graduated from Española High School and attended Eastern New Mexico University, where she laid the foundation for a life of learning, grace, and service.
On November 13, 1965, Sue married the love of her life, Carroll Vance Trego, at First Baptist Church in Española. In 1974, as a young couple, they moved to Sanger and soon found a spiritual home at First Baptist Church. Together, they began a lifelong ministry of service, with Sue dedicating herself fully to the church and community she adored.
Sue faithfully served on multiple church boards and committees and was a member of the church choir for over two decades. But her true calling was ministering to children—her heart and soul poured into teaching Sunday School, directing Vacation Bible School, and leading the children’s choir for many years. She shaped countless young lives with joy, compassion, and steadfast faith.
Her generosity extended beyond the church. Sue was a proud member of the Sanger Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, where she helped initiate the city’s first “Sanger Sellabration.” She also served on the Sanger Beautification Board and spent eight years as an Election Judge for Denton County, always giving selflessly with wisdom and integrity.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 60 years, Carroll Trego of Sanger; two daughters, Sherry Dawn (Trego) LeFils and husband, James of Fort Worth, and Lori Lynn (Trego) Clark and husband Jason of Muenster; one sister, Sandra Kay Stephenson Light of Winslow, Arizona; and four beloved grandchildren: Jessica Ann Clark, Alexis Jayde LeFils, Kendyll Paige LeFils, and Anna Kate LeFils.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 18, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Sanger, with Pastors Grant Bowles and John Guerra officiating. Interment will follow at Sanger Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Ministry at First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1700, Sanger, Texas 76266, or online at fbcsanger.com.
Please offer your condolences to the Trego Family in our online guest book.
