Jerome “Jerry” Gilbert Greminger went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at the age of 78. He was born December 3, 1942 to Rita (Donze) & Gilbert “Gil” in Ste. Genevieve, MO. Upon graduating from Valle High School, he served in the Army from 1960 to 1966, mainly at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.
Upon leaving his duties in the Army, Jerry applied his technology knowledge at numerous employers including Emerson White-Rodgers and Magellan Health. Outside of work, Jerry’s love of sports, spending time with his family, and his faith brought him the most joy.
While in the military, Jerry both played and officiated football. After leaving the military, he continued as a referee for high school basketball games and began coaching CYC teams, earning an award for his years of dedication to the North Central District. Jerry was an avid golfer and could often be found either on the course with his wife, son, or grandkids, or watching golf from his comfy chair on a Sunday afternoon. He enjoyed catching Cardinals games at Busch Stadium and watching the Blues with his family.
In addition to sports, Jerry’s faith and family were foundational. His faith was always at his core, whether it be mass on Sunday or Wednesday night Eucharistic Adoration. Jerry found solace in both his faith and family. He loved to travel, especially when his family was involved, leading him to the Grand Canyon with one of his grandsons, minor league baseball games in which another grandson was the umpire, or his granddaughter’s lacrosse games. When his grandkids were little, his Donald Duck impression was always a hit.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Rita & Gil. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years and high school sweetheart, Shirley (Joggerst); children Cindy (Jim) Morrow and Dave (Jenny) Greminger; grandchildren Jeff Morrow, Holly (Mike) Stauder, and Sam Greminger; brothers Tom (Bernadette) Greminger, Mike (Vicki) Greminger, Jim Greminger, and Dick (Suzanne) Greminger; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, December 28, at 9:30am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Maryland Heights, followed by funeral mass at 10:30am. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 12:30pm. Safety measures due to COVID-19 will be in place as we celebrate Jerry’s life.
