Jerome Sylvester Kolek, Sr., 89, of Plantersville, passed away Tuesday morning, November 4, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 7th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11323 CR 304 in Stoneham. A parish rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 8th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Edward C. Kucera, Jr. as the celebrant. The rite of committal will follow in St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jordan Kolek, Jeremy Kolek, John Kolek, Jr., Robert Kolek, Jonathon Smith, Christopher Lopez, Derrick Lummus and Aaron Marroquin.
Jerome was born November 30, 1935 in LaGrange, Texas to John Charles and Frances Agnes Kubosh Kolek. He served his country and joined the U.S. Marines. Jerome was a very proud Marine and a true patriot. He married Bernice Rosilee Heinrich and together they had 5 children. They moved to Plantersville in the early 80's and became very involved in their church, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stoneham. Jerome was a retired diesel mechanic and enjoyed working his garden, fishing, traveling and was devoted to his two companions, his dogs Tiny and Jim Bob. Following the death of Bernice he married Noemi Ruth who filled an emptiness with the passing of Bernice.
Survivors include his wife Noemi; his children, Jerome Kolek, Jr. and wife Cindi, Audrey Ann Nicholas, Russell Kolek, John Lee Kolek and Benjamin Kolek and wife Sharon; a sister, Marcella Janecek; sister-in-law Stephie Kolek; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren along with numerous other relatives and friends.
