It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Wayne Cade, who left this world on January 25, 2026, in Austin, Texas. Born on December 1, 1933, in Merkle, Texas, to Finnius Cade and Oneda (Bell) Cade, he graduated from Trent High School in 1952.
Jerry is survived by his loving siblings: brother Ronnie Cade, sister Connie Cade and her husband Stan. He leaves behind a cherished legacy of children: Cary Cade, Rhonda Stell, Phil Stell and his wife Kendra, Elizabeth Peachey, and Jere Stell and his wife Deana. His grandchildren—Jerry Wayne Cade, Erin Parrish, Lisa Atwood, Tammy Clifton and her husband Chris, Taylor Phillips and his wife May, Kris Phillips and his partner Vinny, Sam Norman and his wife Kaylin, Tracy Moss and her husband Michael, Jonathan Peachey and his wife Desiree, Chase Stell, and Terra Clemons and her husband Brian—along with his great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephew, will carry on his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Finnius and Oneda Cade; his daughter, Donna Parrish; his son, Jamie Cade; his beloved wife Neatta Cade; his sister-in-law, Lovenia “Lee” Sadler; his sister-in-law, JoAnn Cade; and his son-in-law, Jim Peachey.
Throughout his life, Jerry was a dedicated worker, engaging in various careers, including potash mining, employment at Dow Chemical, construction at Johnson City River Ranch, and serving as a groundskeeper at the Barton Creek Golf Course. His passions included fishing, hunting, playing golf, and spending quality time with his dogs.
Jerry’s athletic prowess shone brightly in his youth; he excelled in high school football, basketball, and track. Notably, he was a member of the district champion Trent Gorillas Basketball team and won multiple first-place awards in one-mile relays. In 2015, he was honorably inducted into the Trent Gorilla Athletic Hall of Fame for his distinguished performances in the State Track and Field One Mile Relay in both 1951 and 1952.
In 1967, he met the love of his life, Neatta, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. The couple relocated to Texas, where they enjoyed a joyful life together along the beaches of Surfside. In 1983, they established their dream home in the hill country of Johnson City, where they spent their retirement cherishing their community and each other.
In his later years, Jerry embraced retirement with joy, often found on the golf course or frequenting local establishments in Johnson City. He continued to pursue his love of fishing and took pleasure in his yard, assisting with Neatta’s creative projects.
Jerry W. Cade was a man of kindness and character, deeply cherished by family and friends alike. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Liberty Lighthouse Church located on Old River Crossing in Johnson City, Texas.
