Shoshana,

I am so very sorry that Jerry is gone. I remember him telling me that you were his soulmate and I loved watching the two of you interact with each other. At first I thought you were arguing with each other but grew to learn that you both loved the back-and-forth of lively debate.

Jerry was a sweetie pie and had a super sense of humor. I was not a close friend but he allowed me to tease him and he would just laugh out loud. He had a strong personality but he...

Dear Shoshanna,

SO sad to just now hear of Jerry's passing. We always enjoyed seeing you and Jerry and had hoped he would beat cancer. We know the fear as Glenn has been cancer free for six years and holding. Hugs and Prayers for you in the fuure. Glenda and Glenn Carr, Robson Ranch.

Sending our sympathy and prayers for comfort for Jerry's wife and our nephews, James and Jerry Gross, and their families.

I enjoyed playing chess with Jerry when he visited us in Mo. I may have won one game. Nina had him as her geometry teacher the year he taught at Crocker.
We will miss visiting with him at the Crocker Alumni. He had planned to attend homecoming this year but that won't be happening.
Our prayers and sympathy
JR & Nina Black Richland Mo.

I will miss Jerry very much. I worked with him for about 12 years off and on at McDonnell Douglas and Boeing in Flight Test. Jerry was a very dedicated and conscientious worker and was a wizard with databases. I always enjoyed talking to Jerry. I am honored to have known him. Rest in Peace Jerry.

Jerry's Obituary

Jerry William Gross, Sr., passed away on September 24, 2017 in Denton, Texas. He was born in San Diego, California on September 2, 1940 to Charles and Maudie (Lovell) Gross.

Jerry attended elementary and high school in Crocker, Missouri. He graduated from the University of North Central Missouri in 1962 with Majors in physics and math and a Minor in chemistry. Jerry worked as a teacher at Crocker High School for one year. From 1964 until his retirement (70 years of age), he worked steadily in the aerospace industry (Learjet, McDonnell Douglas & Boeing). He retired in October 2010.

His parents got divorced when he was 5 years old. Shortly after, his father moved to Missouri to his grandparent’s home. He spent some time in foster homes because his grandmother was not able to care for all three children. As a child, he remembers helping his grandfather (who was blind) navigate the tractor steering wheel working on the farm. As an elementary school child he worked as a shoe shine boy in the military base after school. In high school, he worked in a grocery store every day before and after school. On summer vacation during his college years, he worked in the wheat harvest. He also worked in the dorm at any job he could find to support himself and finance his education.

He married at age 21 and had his first child while he was attending university.  Two years later his second child was born. He divorced when his children were 14 and 12.

He remarried in April 1988 to Shoshana. In 2001 at age 61 we had a business that failed and almost wiped out all our assets. Thankfully, we recovered from that. Jerry was very proud of that; it was a lot of hard work for both of us; together we successfully built another business for ourselves. He was an excellent husband and a warm nurturing man. He was always saying that we are Soulmates. He has a big sense of humor; he has a very strong work ethic; he was always honest and had much integrity.

Anyone who really knew Jerry and was a friend of his knows that he was a very generous person and helped his friends and family whenever possible. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Shoshana of Denton, sons; James Gross and Jerry Gross, Jr., two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held on October 21, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas. A reception will follow at The Wildhorse Grill, Lounge & Bar, Robson Ranch, Denton, TX.
