Dear Schuermann Family, I am very sorry for your loss. Jerry was one of my favorite friend Dad’s during Katie and my days at SUA! He was always greeted me with a smile and genuine enthusiasm. He was a wonderful man and created a beautiful family! Keeping you all in my heart during this difficult time. My prayers are with you. Much love!

I would like to extend my condolences to Mrs. Cheryl Schuermann and the entire family of Mr. Jerry Schuermann. It was an honor and pleasure to care for him all those years. He was truly a wonderful person.

Cheryl, Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Jerry will be truly missed. I am sure Jerry was met by my dad and Fr. Joyce.

Jerry's Obituary

Jerome H. "Jerry" Schuermann, age 81, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of 58 Years, Cheryl (Zimmer), and his four children, their spouses, and grandchildren: Laura Whitney and her husband Nick, of Stillwater, Minn; Stephen Schuermann, M.D. and his wife, Jennie Hahn, M.D. of Cincinnati; Katie Fermann and her husband David, of Madeira; and Leslie Ford and her husband, Daniel, of Fairfield, Conn. 

He was the proud grandfather of Ellie Jones, Stu Whitney, Peter Whitney, Russell Whitney, Ned Whitney, Samantha Schuermann, A.J. Schuermann, Emily Schuermann, Abigail Fermann, Ruth Fermann, Dominic Fermann, Elizabeth Ford, William Ford, Mary Katherine Ford and John Ford. Great granddaughters Frances, Rose and Claire.

Jerry is also survived by his brothers Ken and his wife, Julie, Ron and his wife Pegge, Jim and his wife, Rosemary, and Jay and his wife Christine.  He was predeceased by his loving parents, Alfred and Rita Schuermann, his in-laws, William and Ruth Zimmer and brother in law, Bill Zimmer.

Born on May 2, 1944, Jerry attended St. Gertrude School, Saint Xavier High School, and Xavier University.  Upon graduation, he began a long and successful career in executive sales in the paper industry. He will be remembered for his humor, integrity and his ability to build lasting relationships. He had the gift to make friends wherever he went and could strike up a conversation with a stranger and turn it into a true friendship.

A lifelong Cincinnati sports fan, Jerry was a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Xavier Musketeers. He was a former member of O’Bannon Creek Golf Club where he enjoyed many rounds of golf with Cheryl and their good friends.  He loved family trips to Cape Cod and Florida and he looked forward to a good Manhattan at the end of the day.  

Jerry was proud of his Jesuit education and lived the Ignatian principle of “ad mojorem Dei gloriam” – for the greater glory of God.  He truly was a man for others.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, a patient father, grandfather, brother and loyal friend.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Geo. H. Rohde & Son Funeral Home, 3183 Linwood Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45208. Complimentary valet parking will be available.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 9:30 AM at St. Gertrude Church, 6543 Miami Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45243. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
