Obituary
Jimmy Bennett, Sr was born in Fairfield, AL on July 24, 1945 to the late Jimmy Lamar and Nellie Mae Bennett. He peacefully departed this earthy life on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the age of 78. He embraced Christianity at a young age and became a member of Mount Pilgrim Church in Fairfield, Alabama. His early education took place within the Fairfield City School Systems. Jimmy eventually relocated to Detroit, Michigan, where he pursued a career as a professional painter and later took on a role at Chrysler Motors.
In later years, he returned to Birmingham, Alabama, dedicating himself to his professional career as a painter at Montclair and Children's Hospital of Alabama until his retirement. After returning to Birmingham, he found love and joined in matrimony with Rosemary Bennett, their union lasting for 34 years until his passing. Jimmy was know to brighten up a room with his smile, humor and laughter.
He leaves to cherish his memories: wife Rosemary; four sons Jimmy Jr. (Jeanette),Westland,MI, Kevin (Lameka),Vellville, MI, Derrick, Westland, MI, and Jimarcus Birmingham,Al and one daughter Tiffany, Birmingham, Al; grandchildren, Jarrell, Jimmel, Chris, Jewel, Malik, Kevin Jr, Devin and Trinitee; great- grandchildren, Jamarcus, Jaylen, Mariah, Mason, Josiah, Brayden, Kyleigh, Messiah; sisters, Jeraldine Brown and Valerie Jones; sisters in-law Dermeatria Powell, Belinthia Jones, Lavetta Powell Baker, Shirley Powell, Wilma Powell; brother in-laws Eddie Lee Powell, Jr., Gregory Powell, Reginald Powell, Garrick Powell, Leon Powell (Shirley) a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
