A resident of Kentwood, LA, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, LA. He was born August 18, 1942 in Stewart, MS and was 79 years of age. He is survived by 2 sons, Barry Powers and Jimmy Powers, Jr. and wife, Rebekah; 5 grandchildren, Cody, Dillon, Hannah, Austin, and Joshua Powers; 2 great-grandchildren, Dominick and Bella Powers; 2 brothers, Harold Powers and wife, Lola and George Powers, Jr. and wife, Gloria; 2 sisters, Mavis McKenny and Nancy Brouillette and husband, Gene; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Wilma Gene Powers; parents, George Powers, Sr. and Edna Gainer Powers; 1 brother, Robert Powers; 3 sisters, Norene Dempsey, Mary Brown, and Louise Campbell. Visitation at Tangipahoa Baptist Church from 10:00AM until religious services at 11:00AM on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Services conducted by Bro. Greg Stewart.
