Jo Ann Maynard, 89, of Shelbyville, passed away on the 31st day of August, 2025, at the Maple Grove Senior Living Center in Shelbyville. Born on the 11th day of September in 1935, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Blanche Roberts Rogers and the widow of the late Eugene Maynard. She was a member of the Olive Branch United Methodist Church where she formerly taught Sunday School and served as the Sunday School Superintendent. For many years, she was an active member of the Carl Adams Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. A homemaker, she also worked at the Mud Hen ceramics shop in Shelbyville. Spending time with her family and friends, quilting, playing church hymns on her piano at home, and bowling on a ladies’ league were among her hobbies. She attended all of the children’s baseball games which spanned four generations of her family. A basketball enthusiast, she was, without a doubt, a University of Kentucky Wildcat fan. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Janice Rogers, Joyce Hall, and Judy Miller.
She is survived by her children, Janean Maynard Bray and her husband, Brian, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Robby Maynard and his wife, Cherie, of Shelbyville; her five grandchildren, Derek Redmon and his wife, Carrie, of Smithfield, Darren Redmon and his wife, Heather, of Linden, Michigan, and Jake Maynard, Cason Maynard, and Lucas Maynard, all of Shelbyville; and her great-grandchildren, Norah, Harvey, Ella, Gavin, and Harrison.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., on Friday, the 5th day of September, 2025 at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville, with the Reverend Wallace Votaw and the Reverend Jerry Shelley officiating. Interment will be in the Bagdad Cemetery in Bagdad. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M., until 8:00 P.M., with the Eastern Star service at 7:00 P.M., on Thursday, the 4th day of September, at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville, and online condolences may be expressed at www.halltaylorfuneralhomes.com.
