Joan's Obituary

Joan Cato (nee Cruz) 63 of Lorain, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

She was born and raised in a loving family. Joan dedicated her life to caring for others. Joan worked for many years as a nurse’s aide, serving dementia patients and the elderly with patience, compassion, and dignity. Throughout her career Joan touched countless lives while working in several nursing homes, as well as Mercy Hospital and St. John Westshore Hospital in Westlake.

Joan is survived by her beloved children, Lesley Joan Quinones, and Jose Juan Quinones; son- in-law Johnnylee Wright; daughter-in-law Amanda Quinones; cherished grandchildren Ryon Smith, Aryanna Salazar, Gabriel Quinones, Ace Cabrera, Aiden Ray Quinones, and Logan London Cabrera. She also leaves behind her sisters Nancy Molina, and Carmen Cruz, and brothers Tito Cruz, and Bobby Cruz.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elba and Luis Cruz, and her brother, Louis Cruz.

Joan will be remembered for her warm heart, her dedication to caregiving, and the deep love she had for her family. Her presence brought comfort to many, and her memory will continue to live on through everyone who knew and loved her.

Her family will receive at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 4 to 6 PM.
