Not sure what to say?

I love you mom. I miss you so much already. My heart is broken. I lost my best friend. You will forever be in my heart and memories. I know you are at peace now but selfishly I wish you were still here. I do take comfort in knowing you will be my guardian angel now. I love you always and forever. Rest in peace mom.

This book of memories is to serve as a record of the services you entrusted to us. We hope it will help to preserve treasured memories and that we, in some small measure, have helped to ease your burden and bring you comfort.

Joan's Obituary

Joan Duval of Burlington, MA, passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2025, at the age of 68. Born at Cambridge Hospital, she grew up in Melrose, MA, and graduated from Melrose High School. She later lived many years in Tewksbury, MA, with her husband, Thomas Duval, where they raised three children.

Joan loved the outdoors. Summers were filled with camping trips, where time spent with family became treasured memories. She also enjoyed trips to the beaches of Cape Cod and Gloucester, delighting in the simple pleasures of beach life. Later, she moved to Tempe, Arizona, where she embraced the warmer climate and the quiet beauty of the desert.

Above all, Joan’s greatest joy came from her three grandchildren: Shaeley Vaquerano (“My Shaeley Girl”), Avianna Garniss, and Alessia Garniss. She cherished every moment with them, finding happiness in the simplest times spent together.

She is survived by her children, Roxianne Vaquerano and husband Luis, Christopher Garniss and wife Victoria, and Patrick Duval; her grandchildren, Shaeley, Avianna, and Alessia; her siblings, Jan Cave and husband John, Jean Davis, Maureen Casterlin and husband Bruce, Michael Fitzgerald and wife Mary, Kelly Fitzgerald, and Sean Fitzgerald; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Duval, and her brother, Richard Fitzgerald.

Joan was the daughter of Therese (Feeney) Fitzgerald and Edward Fitzgerald.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Joan's memory to the Pine Street Inn 444 Harrison Ave. Boston, MA 02118
