Opheim of Fort Worth, Texas passed away at Heart to Heart Hospice House in Fort Worth, Texas on June 12, 2025, surrounded by her children.Joan was born on April 15, 1940, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Archie and Edna (O'Clair) Halstead. She married Alfred Opheim on August 31, 1961, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. They later made their home in Fairmont, Minnesota. Joan first moved to Texas in 1985. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her children. She was known for her kind heart and love for her family. He love and support were unconditional. She was the kind of person who would do anything for you. No matter what the family was doing, she always wanted to just be together.Cherishing her memory are her children Michele Opheim, of Fort Worth, Texas and Doug (Laurie) Opheim of St. Peter, Minnesota; her sisters, Patricia (Brian) Rike of Bricelyn, Minnesota and Carmen Kaneer of Emmetsburg, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Becky Opheim of Plover, Iowa; grand-fur-baby, Mishka; nieces and nephews, Corey (Sandy) Rike, Tricia (Darren) Denzer, Gale Davis, Paula (Jason) Fowler, Kathy (Steven Carney) Davis, Jason (Michaela) Snavely, and Dillion (Evangeline) Kaneer; granddaughters, Jenny (Ryan Holmes) Fisher-Krug and Jessica (Jared Reitz) Fisher-Krug, and all of their families.She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff, who passed on June 3, 2025, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Also preceding her were her parents; brother, Galen Halstead; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Garry Davis; nephews, Travis Snavely, Justin Snavely, and Lucas Rike; and daughter-in-law, Shari Opheim.Arrangements by Martin-Mattice Funeral Home
