Joan Steele Gulick, of Laurel Hill, Florida, entered into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ after a life beautifully lived and deeply loved. Joan’s life was a testimony of faith, family, and friendship — a legacy that will continue to bless all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A true cornerstone of her family, Joan devoted her life to those she loved most. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering presence provided strength and comfort to her loved ones through every season of life. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed and valued, a gift she shared daily as the owner and operator of a bait and tackle shop for many years. It was there that she met and befriended countless people — her natural joy and genuine love for others shining through in every conversation.
Joan’s passions reflected her generous spirit. She loved spending time at the beach, nurturing her garden full of beautiful flowers, and filling her home with delicious meals lovingly prepared for family and friends. Traveling brought her joy and adventure, and gospel sings were among her favorite gatherings, where her heart and faith found expression in song and fellowship.
Above all, Joan’s deep faith in Jesus Christ sustained her throughout her life. He was the anchor of her soul and the foundation of her strength. Through her steadfast belief and daily walk with the Lord, she set a powerful example for her family — teaching them the enduring power of love, faith, and grace.
Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Gulick; her father, Greeley Steele; her mother, Dessie Barrow Steele; her brothers, John Steele and David Steele; and her sisters, Jeanette Stevison and Marilyn Hebert.
She is survived by her devoted sister, Sharon Steele Overmyer who was not only her caregiver but also her closest friend and steadfast companion. For the last five years of Joan’s life, her sister lovingly cared for her, ensuring that every need was met and every day was filled with love and dignity.
Graveside services for Joan Steele Gulick will be 11AM Saturday October 18, 2025 at Old Ebenezer Cemetery with Chris Davenport officiating.
