To Joann's family, We used to live by them in Chauncey and she was a beautiful lady. Her husband was a good man too. So very sorry to the family for their loss. Prayers that they all can find some comfort and strength in their hearts to get through in their time of need. God Bless them all.

So sorry for the lost of Joann I know I will miss her and she will be missed by her family and friends. Wish I could be there for her calling hours and service. I will be thinking of all her family.

JoAnn's Obituary

JoAnn Laverne Wilson Hanning, age 80, of Chauncey died Sunday evening, June 3, 2018 at OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital, Athens. Born March 22, 1938 in Parkersburg, WV she was the daughter of the late Melvin Curtis Wilson and Aldania May Grim Wilson. She attended Troy Carthage High School and was a graduate of Clifton Heights High School in New York. She was employed in food service at Woolworth's, The Sundae Shoppe, and the Athens Co. Sheriff's Office. She had also been an Athens Co. Sheriff's Deputy. She was a member of Golden Wings CB Club and the Ladies Auxilliary of Chauncey AMVETS Post 53. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and playing cards with the "Golden Girls", Burnitta Sands, Rita Frost, Joann Barnhart and Norma Carr. JoAnn is survived by three daughters, Sonia Ray of Reedsville, Lorri Smith of Reedsville and Alesia Johnson of Parkersburg, WV; a step daughter, Karol (Ken) Breitholle of West Milton; three sons, Doug (Debra) Adams of Chauncey, Joe (Jill) Hanning of Millfield and Jeff Hanning and his girl friend, Twana Ventola of New Marshfield; two step sons, Jerry Hanning of Albany and Tracy (Pat) Hanning of Kettering; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother, Chester "Ted" (Sandra) Wilson of Marietta; and a special friend, Julie Pierce. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Alton D. Hanning; a step son, Charles Hanning; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Scanlan. Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Cremation will follow. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at a later date. A private family graveside service at Bates Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
