JoAnn's Obituary

JoAnn Sabrina Kowis, 60, of Plantersville, died  Thursday, May 30, 2024, at CHI St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

A gather of family and friends will take place from 9:30 to 10:00 am with a parish rosary beginning at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 8227 CR 205 at FM 1774, in Plantersville.  A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 am with Rev. Edward C. Kucera, Jr. as the celebrant.  The rite of committal will be in St. Mary's Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be William Kowis, Derek Cleghorn, Johnny Robles, Tom Yanchak, Charles Garney and Jaview Garcia.

JoAnn was born October 21, 1963 in Navasota to August John "A.J." and Albina Yanchak Kowis.  She graduated from Richards High School.  JoAnn absolutely loved to decorate for any and all holidays!  She dedicated most of her life caring for her parents and she loved her church.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, A.J. and Albina Kowis, her sister Veronica Robles and her brother Charles Kowis.

Survivors include her loving sister, Evelyn Cleghorn and husband Ted of Shiro; her brother William Kowis of Plantersville; nieces Detra Cleghorn and fiance Charles Garney of Waller, Desiree Robles and fiance Javier Garcia and Vivian Robles of Navasota; nephews, Johnny Robles and wife NiQuita of Roans Prairie, Derek Cleghorn and fiance Jen Roberts of Shiro; along with one great nephew Monty Garney and three great nieces, Desiree Robles, Makayla Robles and Makenzie Robles; one aunt, Jo Heermann of Montgomery and an uncle, Tom Yanchak and wife Jo of Brenham.
