You brought something special to this world. When I first met you I had bought a C-Store & Cafe in Blanchard & you owned a grocery store. Joe, you will truly be missed. Your legacy as a remarkable coach, dedicated father, and loyal friend will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know you. Your unwavering guidance on the ball field shaped so many lives, and the impact you made goes far beyond the game. I will forever cherish the wonderful memories our families shared, both on and off the field. You touched so many lives, and your spirit will continue to inspire us all.

Obituary

Joe's Obituary

Joseph Earl Miller, Jr. was born on July 9th, 1960, in Norman, Oklahoma, and was placed in the loving arms of Edna and Joseph Earl Miller, Sr. He passed away on September 6th, 2025, in his absolutely treasured place on the lake.

Joe graduated from Norman High School in 1978 and attended the University of Oklahoma. His free time then included very dedicated prank planning and many, many trips to the lake and the woods, fishing, skiing, and hunting as often as he could.

Joe met Kris in 1987 at the infamous Opie’s in Norman, Oklahoma. Early, early on in their dating stage, Kris brought Joe home to see their horses. They were so natural together that a good family friend pulled her aside to let Kris know, “you’re definitely going to marry him.” And so, she did. They were married in 1993 and Joe had so many great adventures and the best of times with his wife and two daughters.

Joe was known and loved by so many people, and for so many different things. He was a very skilled and ambitious huntsman. He was a passionate softball coach who cared immensely about the development and lives of all of his athletes. He was also an incredibly talented contractor who always had a solution to every problem and could make any project beautiful. And in the most recent years, he could always be seen headed to, or coming from the lake.

He is survived by his wife, Kris; his two daughters, Leslie (Zack), and Lauren (Logan); mother and father-in-law, Jonnie and Bill; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Lauri, Buffie (Dave); and niece Dee (Cody); as well as many friends and relatives that will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Edna and Joseph; brother-in-law Heath; and other loving family members and friends.

The service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Blanchard, Oklahoma, at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 12th, 2025 . In lieu of flowers, please buy a fishing license and take someone you love out on the water.

Joe will always be remembered by his long conversations, his work ethic, his crinkly-eyed smiles, the greatest hugs, and being an incredible friend, coach, father and husband. We will love him and miss him forever.
