Your hiking friends send love.

The best Pharmacist at United Grocery Store, Burkburnett,,,,
this was my pharmacy. Always, enjoyed our conversations about his dove hunting and how he cooked the doves. Plus his mountain home. He was missed when he retired.
A good man.

Dear Vicki,
Sending you and your family condolences and prayers upon the loss of your husband. May your precious memories bring you comfort at this difficult time.

Vickie, I am so sorry about Joe. I have known him since y’all came to Burkburnett and he became my pharmacist. Praying for you and family for peace and comfort. I know there will be difficult days ahead. Keep your eyes on our loving savior Jesus.

Great pharmacist and very helpful to my mother. May God Hold You All Tightly during this time of loss

Joe's Obituary

Joe Lynn Tigert, 74, passed away in the care of Hospice of Wichita Falls on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

The family will receive friends between 3 and 5 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2024 at Burkburnett Church of Christ with Tom Box, officiating.  Private family interment will be at Eldorado Cemetery in Eldorado, Oklahoma under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett.

Joe was born on December 10, 1949 in Quanah, Texas to Lyle Pershing and Marjorie (Martin) Tigert.  Joe grew up in Eldorado, Oklahoma and graduated from Eldorado High School in 1968 where he was active in baseball, basketball, and FFA.  He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University and graduated with a BS in Pharmacy in 1973, and was later grandfathered in with a Doctorate of Pharmacy.  Joe married Vicki Jill Crossland on June 2, 1972 in Grandfield, Oklahoma.  He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.  Joe was a faithful Christian and taught Sunday School for many years.  In 1973 he began his career as a Pharmacist with Humpty Pharmacy in Oklahoma City. They moved to Burkburnett in 1975 to help with the family farming operations in Tillman and Cotton Counties.  Joe had grown up farming with his dad and was returning to his love for the land.  He went to work for City Pharmacy and Gibson’s Pharmacy in 1975.  In the early 1990’s, Joe began working for United Supermarket Pharmacy where he worked until his retirement in 2019.  Joe loved his job as a pharmacist as he loved visiting with the people and helping them with their needs.  His favorite pastime was being an avid hunter and fisherman.  Joe loved to bow hunt, trout fish, and tie his own trout flies.  Colorado was Joe and Vicki’s “happy place”, a family legacy that lasted over fifty years.  He began going there in high school with his family and friends, and then he began taking Vicki, their children, and grandchildren every summer.  They also went to Colorado in the winter to snow ski.  Joe was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle Pershing and Marjorie Tigert; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Nell Crossland; and his brother-in-law, Doug Crossland.

Joe is survived by his wife, Vicki Jill Tigert of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael Scott and Atlanta Tigert of Sachse; his daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Mitchell Hill of Wichita Falls; his brother and sister-in-law, Gary Lyle and Susan Tigert of Ardmore, Oklahoma; and his three granddaughters, Abigail Hill, Blythe Tigert, and Ava Grace Hill.

For those desiring, the family suggests memorials be made in honor of Joe to Burkburnett Church of Christ, 204 N. Ave. C, Burkburnett, TX 76354; or to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd., Wichita Falls, TX 76310 (howf.org)
