John Clarence “J.C.” Adams Sr. was born on August 12, 1928, to Richard “Dick” Adams and Emma Woods in Beaumont, Texas. He peacefully passed away on August 7, 2025, at the age of 96, days shy of his 97th birthday.
He was a proud graduate of Charlton Pollard High School, class of 1946, where he also sang in the high school choir. After graduation, he attended Prairie View A&M, where he majored in Architecture.
In 1948, he married the love of his life, Ollie Mae Woods. From that union, two children were born: John C Adams Jr. and Karen Elaine Adams. Mrs. Adams later passed from illness in October 1967.
J.C. dedicated many years of service in various positions with the Business and Professional Men’s Club and the Beaumont Club. He also worked for Trotti and Thompson for many years as a second job.
In his pastime, he played shortstop in a local city baseball league.
In January 1971, he married Esther Marie James. Although they divorced in 1985, they remained very good friends.
After accepting Christ in his life, he joined and became very active at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church, where for many years he taught Sunday School. He later joined Starlight Baptist Church, where he was ordained into the Ministry by Reverend William McCarty. As an Associate Minister, he studied the bible extensively, taught bible study classes, and did great work in the prayer ministry. He was also a mentor to many young Christians.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Mae Adams, his parents, ten siblings: Louis ODell, Bertha ODell, Baby Boy ODell, William Howard Taft Piert, Milton Piert, Zora Piert, Beatrice Piert, and Alex Piert.Ruth Piert, Ivory Piert, two grandsons, Brian Keith Adams and James Christopher “Chris” Garrett, a great granddaughter, Destiny Hilton, and a godson, Sam McCregory.
He leaves to mourn his son, John C. Adams Jr. (Margaret), his daughter, Karen Adams Garrett; Grandchildren: Keith Hilton (Nikithia), John C. Adams III (Venus), Kendra Danielle Garrett; Great grandchildren: Nashara Hilton, Gevonya Hilton, Joshua Hilton, and Jasmine Adams; one Great-great grandson, Aziah Hilton-Loyal; special great-niece, Julia King, godson Rev. Ractcher Johnson (Silverine,) and other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
