John Raymond Boland, age 93, 54 year resident of Villa Park and the last 7 ½ years at Beacon Hill, Lombard, died Thursday December 6, 2018 at Beacon Hill. He was kind, witty, and young at heart and left an impact on all he met and will be missed by all who knew him. He was born to the late John and Cecilia Boland, April 21, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois He married the late LaVerne Boland nee Sauve on July 17, 1948 and enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. An amazing family patriarch to his loving and four devoted children, 10 grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Pat (Glen “Bud”) Brooks of Plainfield, John (Kathy) of Delavan, WI, Kathi (John) Mahler of Wheaton and Geri (Tom) Gill of Lombard. Grandchildren, Bryan (Michelle) and Matt (Alicia) Brooks, Leslie (Kevin) Warnecke, Sara (Ryan) Gregg, Mike, Nick (Alexis) and Keith (Chelsea) Mahler, Patrick, Kevin and Kellie Gill. Great- grandchildren Isabella, Tommy, Abby and Maddie Brooks, Ethan, Camden and Deelan Gregg, Dylan, Kayleigh, Emma and Wesley Mahler. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. John honorably served in the United States Army in World War II and was station in the Philippines. He went to Washington DC with the Honor Flight in May 2014. He proudly retired from the CTA after 44 years of loyal employment in accounting. John, LaVerne & family were early and active parishioners of St. Pius X Church, Lombard for 61 years. They sacrificed to graduate all four children from St. Pius X Elementary school.
Visitation Monday Dec 10, 2018 9:30 a.m. until time of prayers 11:00 a.m. at Steuerle Funeral Home 350 S. Ardmore Ave, Villa Park, Il Mass 11:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Church (Westmore- Meyers & Madison St), Lombard, IL. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
