John Fincham Calhoun

John Fincham Calhoun, a beloved son, father, stepfather, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 5:55 PM. He was 71 years old. Raised in Fallbrook, California, John was the son of Newton and Vera Calhoun. From a young age, he was known for his mischievous spirit and adventurous nature, particularly his love for riding dirt bikes and motorcycles. Those who knew him during his youth remember a strikingly handsome and remarkably strong man. As many would say, “Nobody messed with John Calhoun.” Despite his rugged exterior and strong-willed nature, John had the gentlest of hearts. His greatest pride and joy was his daughter, Sara Calhoun, whom he cherished deeply. To Sara, he was not just a father, but the best dad in the world. John’s stubbornness and strength were matched by an unwavering love and dedication to his family. John had a deep connection to his home in Fallbrook, where he spent countless hours building rock walls and crafting with his hands. His love for nature was evident in the way he would watch the birds, often imagining them taking him on their adventures. This simple pleasure brought him immense peace and joy. He is survived by his daughter, Sara Calhoun, 38; his stepson, Dylan Eddy, 46; his daughter-in-law, Erica Eddy; and his treasured grandchildren, Seth Eddy, 23, Jake Calhoun, 18, and Ellie Gonzalez, 8. John was a man of unique character and spirit, one of a kind in every sense. He will be remembered for his strength, his gentleness, and his love for the little things in life that made it so rich. As we bid farewell to John, we take comfort in the thought that he is now flying with the birds he so admired, embarking on the adventures he once imagined. John Fincham Calhoun’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He was truly one of a kind.

A burial will take place at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery on Saturday, October 5th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Following the burial, a Celebration of Life for John Fincham Calhoun will be held at his home at 1054 Hughes Ln. Fallbrook, Ca 92028. All who knew and loved John are warmly invited to join us in honoring and celebrating his remarkable life. Food and drinks will be provided.
