I met John 15 years ago (give or take a year or two) while I was working for the city of Science Hill. We really connected and became good friends. I lost touch with him for a while and haven’t talked to him in a few years. John seemed like a strong family man who loved his mom and dad. I really enjoyed working with him and sure going to miss him. Sing high on that mountain my brother.

John Edward Cummings, age 43, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
John was born on November 21, 1982 in Germany to the late Lon Dale and Ingrid Cummings. He worked in the construction business. John loved his Jeep, mudding, being outdoors and watching the Philadelphia Eagles. He enjoyed music, collecting watches and sunglasses. John loved spending time with family and friends. Most of all, loved spending time with his grandson, Sammy.
He is survived by his wife, Justan Maria Vernatter, whom he married on March 12, 2026 in Eubank; one son, Jordan Robinette of Somerset; two daughters, Kimber Heath and Zoey Holder of Somerset; one grandchild, Samuel Collins; and friends who are saddened by his passing.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Lon (Ingrid) Cummings.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life Service at a later date.
