John “Sonny” Joseph Daniels, Jr., 86, of Morehead City, NC formally of Somerville, MA, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Carteret Health Care.
John was born and raised in Massachusetts and moved to Morehead City in 2001. He was a very creative and intelligent man that enjoyed working with his hands. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that will be missed.
John is survived by his daughters, Carol Clevesy and husband Alton of Somerville, MA, Elaine Wright and husband Bruce of New Hampshire, Julie Daniels and husband Richard of Malden, MA; son, John “Jack” Joseph Daniels III and wife Carol of Morehead City; sister, Marie Hammersmith of SC; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his by his loving wife, of over 50 years, Dorothy Daniels; parents, John Joseph Daniels, Sr, and Lillian Daniels; brother, William Daniels.A prayer service was held for John be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville. Relatives and friends were invited to attend. Calling hours were held on Thursday evening, April 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment was at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge.
