John's Obituary

John Ferreer, of Woburn, formerly of Somerville, passed away on Monday, October 28th, at the age of 80. Born, raised, and educated in Somerville, he was the son of the late John J. and Anna (DiCicco) Ferreer. John had a distinguished 59-year career with the Pipe Fitters Union and was well-respected in his field. He also owned and operated the Thurston Spa in Somerville for many years, where he left a lasting mark on the community. A man who loved to try his luck, John enjoyed his time at the horse and dog tracks, as well as at the casino. He particularly cherished trips to Foxwoods with his beloved wife, where they created many happy memories together. John had a passion for good food and enjoyed dining out, relishing the atmosphere and the company of his wife. His zest for life and love for those around him will be deeply missed. Beloved husband of 48 years to Patirica (McNeill) Duncan-Ferreer.Devoted step-dad to Sharon Duncan of Woburn. Cherished brother of Micheal J. Ferreer and his wife Silvia Deraujo-Ferreer of Ponte Vedra Beach, FLA and Francis "Frank" Ferreer and his wife Maureen of Shrewsberry. Loving uncle of Felice Ferreer, Michael F. Ferreer and Jackie Ferreer and her partner Joe Saster. Dear great-uncle of Mea Massaro and Dante Saster. Also survived by many loving friends and extended family members. Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 4th in the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville, from 9:00AM TO 10:30AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford St. Somerville at 11:00AM.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.  Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  In lieu of flower's contributions may be made in John's name to Spina Bifida Association of Greater New England, P.O. Box 681 Natick MA 01760.
