John Martin Flinchum, Sr.

Mr. John Martin Flinchum Sr., age 83, of North Wilkesboro, died Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Wilkes Senior Village. He was born April 6, 1931 in Forsyth County to James William and Minnie Wood Flinchum. He was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Flinchum was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John Flinchum, Jr., James W. Flinchum; three brothers, Jack Flinchum, J.W. Flinchum, Samuel Flinchum; and three sisters, Mary Flinchum, Mable Flinchum and Sarah Baldwin.Surviving are two sons, Mark Flinchum and wife Lisa of Mulberry, Jerry Lee Flinchum and wife Tina of Burlington, daughter, Judy Walker and husband Fred of Burlington; sister, Hazel McCarter and husband Jim of North Wilkesboro; five grandchildren, Mark Keith Flinchum Jr., and wife Amanda of Rock Creek, Justin J. Flinchum, Alivia L. Flinchum, John M. Flinchum III, Staci Flinchum all of North Wilkesboro; one great grandson, Landon Flinchum of Rock Creek; and two step daughters, Jessica Roten of North Wilkesboro, Margaret Poe of Texas.Funeral service will be held 11:00 o'clock Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Leon Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 10:00 until 11:00 o'clock on Thursday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted.
