John Paul Gossman, age 64, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
John was a beloved husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. He is survived by his wife, Melody Gossman (Isburg); his children, Chase Gossman, Cody (Ashley) Gossman, Chelsea (Anthony) Page, and Courtney Gossman, He also left behind his step children Liz (Jordan) Isburg, Jamie (Dean) Conners, Aaron Isburg, Amanda (Dylan) Heidebrecht, Haley Isburg, and his grandchildren/Step grandchildren Braiden, Marcus, Niya, Sylas, Norrin, Emryn, Oliver, October, Daniel, Laura, Jane, Mabel, Hue, and Lyric who were the light of his life.
He also leaves behind his sisters Julie Straw, Jane Hetland, Jacki Florey, and Joellen Schoenfelder, along with many aunts, uncles, and extended family and many dear friends who will miss him deeply. John was also preceded in death by his mother and father Deloris and Paul Gossman, his uncle Steve McEntee, His brother-in-law Spencer Straw, his uncle Richard McEntee, and his grandparents on both his mothers and fathers side.
John was born August 15th,1960 and raised in Mitchel South Dakota. Where he worked at the local Sunshine foods and attended Mitchell High School. After graduating John proudly served in the United States Navy, a time in his life that shaped his resilience, discipline, and deep sense of duty. After his service, he went on to build a hardworking career, with his most recent role at Spartan Nash, where he was respected by coworkers and known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
John found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life — traveling, music, cheering on his favorite football teams, and spending as much time as he could with his kids and grandkids, whom he adored. He was the kind of man who showed up, put others first, and always had a sharp wit and a quiet smile at the ready.
Those who knew John will remember his hardworking nature, sense of humor, steadfast dedication, and yes — his stubborn streak, which only made his humility and warmth shine even brighter. He lived his life with purpose, love, and a strong moral compass.
John’s legacy is one of love, strength, laughter, and unwavering devotion. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial service will be held on 11:00 AM, Friday, August 1st at Central Church Downtown Campus with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. A luncheon will follow the service.
