John was a wonderful neighbor and friend, always working in the yard and so helpful. He was the strongest man I ever knew! Such a kind soul. He will be missed. Love and prayers to Joyce and the family.

John's Obituary

John A. Hamady, age 80 of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023. He was born on May 20, 1943, in Gary, Indiana to the late John and Cecelia Hamady. He was a 1963 graduate of River Forest High School and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. John retired from NIPSCO where he worked as a line supervisor for storm repair. He was a Freemason and a private multi engine rated pilot. He enjoyed the outdoors especially playing horseshoes, riding his bicycle in Florida, and fishing for Bass in Arkansas. John was an avid Brickie Football fan.  

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (nee Daniels) Hamady; daughter, Janice (Casey Weems) Hamady; son, John M. (Angie Pruden) Hamady; granddaughter, Krista (JT Gill) Tobin; brother, William Hamady; sisters, Christine Lewis, Theresa (Gary) Gamble; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s name may be made to the Humane Society of Hobart, 2054 East SR 130, Hobart, Indiana, 46342.

Memorial visitation for John will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A memorial service will take place Friday, January 5, 2024, at 11:00 am with additional visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service. For more information, please call (219) 942-2109.
