John was my neighbor at Bar VK for 20 years. He was ever the gentleman and I thought the world of him. Godspeed John.

John Warren Henry was born August 18, 1942, to Virginia Colbert Green and Earl Claude Henry, in Ponca City, OK, the fourth of six children. He passed away August 24, 2025, after succumbing to the effects of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. John graduated from Blackwell OK high school in 1960 and from East Central State University in Edmond OK in 1964. He joined the Navy in 1966 and flew fighter jets off the aircraft carrier the Shangri-La in the Mediterranean during the VietNam era. After flying for Shell Oil, he joined Delta Airlines in 1973 and retired as Captain in 2002. He subsequently flew for a local company in Denton, Hulcher Enterprises, for several years. He had the privilege of growing up in an aviation family and spent his life amid aircraft.
John married Jamie Maness in 1966 and that union was blessed with two daughters, Katie and Emilie Henry. He married Debbie Howell in 1981 and that union was blessed with two more daughters, Lindsey Lough (son-in-law Shawn) and Natalie Key (son-in-law Randy.) He married Betsy Brooks McGuire in 1993 and became stepdad to four more children, Ashley, Angela, Ryan, and Haley. He has eleven grandchildren…David, Hank, Emily, Kate, Meg, Evan, Justice, Jaxon, Tinley, Oakley, and Reese.
John is survived by Betsy, Debbie, and Jamie, two siblings…Euel Henry and Jenny Sue Johns. He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and his beloved young daughter, Lindsey, with whom he is now joyfully reunited.
John will be remembered lovingly by his family and friends (thank you especially to Euel and Denise Henry, Don and Lynn Maxwell, and David and Ann Austin); and by the Sanger Community to which he contributed tirelessly through the Lions Club and the Sanger Crisis Center. John was a dedicated Christian who lived his life in service to all and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Denton.
A special thanks to the staff at Serenity Gardens and Concho Heart Hospice who lovingly cared for him these past two years. A funeral will be held to celebrate his life at First Baptist Church in Sanger on Thursday, August 28th at 10:30. He will be interred next to Lindsey in the Sanger Cemetery.
Please offer your condolences to the Henry family at www.cokerfuneralhome.com.
