Obituary

John "Jack"'s Obituary

John "Jack" Simpson, Jr., 82, of Finleyville went to be with his Lord on Monday, February 3, 2025. He was born September 15, 1942 in Pittsburgh, the son of John and Stella Dobosh Simpson.

Jack retired from LTV Steel. Upon retirement, he drove bus for Ringgold School District.  

Prior to his illness, he was active with his church, Holy Angels, where he helped with their fish fry and funeral ministry. Jack enjoyed his yearly retreat to the Tapestry in Kentucky with his friends and son. 

Jack and Sandy loved to travel and were fortunate to have beautiful memories from the numerous cruises, traveling in their RV, and sharing their weekends with dear friends at Lakeside Campground in Tygart Lake, West Virginia. 

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Carden Simpson, with whom he celebrated 30 years of marriage on October 7, 2024; five children, Mary (Bryan) Candella, Jerry (Pam) Simpson, Bunni (Jack) Cadwallader, Brendon Simpson, and Kim (Mike) Dobbins; grandchildren, Regan, Allison, Nicholas and Melissa Candella, Seth Cadwallader; his faithful buddy, Kenneth Cadwallader, who he loved to watch play until his decline in health. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister; father and mother-in-law, Jack and Norma Carden; and brother-in-law, Jimbo Carden. 

Jack's family would like to thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice for their compassionate care.

Friends will be received on Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 10:30 AM in Blessed Trinity Parish, Holy Angels Church, 408 Baldwin Road, Pittsburgh, with the Rev. Bob Ahlin as Celebrant. Those attending the mass are asked to go directly to the church.
