Dear Florene,

I was so sorry to hear about John’s passing. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.

Although I did not know John well personally, reading about his life made it clear what a remarkable man he was. His service to his country, his creativity, and the deep devotion he had to his family speak to a life that was truly well lived.

John was one of my best friends from my earliest memory. We were a bit more than cousins. There was very little we wouldn't do for each other. We went from first grade through college together. We never had a cross word with each other and I have many fond memories of our escapades together. We have laughed together over them many times through the years. He will be dearly missed
