John had a heart of gold. He loved the Party Line radio show that my mother Mattie Dellinger had for years. He would bring me birthday cards for her at my Christmas store to give to her. He was always so kind and thoughtful. My condolences to her children and family.

Hicks Mortuary is announcing funeral service for Mr. John C. Jones, (87) of Center, Texas. Mr. John Jones passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, at Focus Care Nursing Home in Center, Texas. Mr. Jones was born to the late John B Jones and Roberta Sharp Glosson in Shelbyville, Texas on February 2nd “Ground Hog Day” in 1939. John was raised by his grandmother, Mrs. Lee Ella Greer. John has worked for E.L. Bruce for over 40 years. John C. was always ready with a quick-witted joke and humorous with whomever he met. He never met a stranger, always ready with a joke.
Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at The Abundant Love Ministries located at 1426 Shelbyville Street Center, Texas. Rev. Dr. Allan Thomas will be officiating.
He is survived by:
Children: John C. Jones of Center, Texas, Kelvin Jones of Center, Texas, and Sedgwick Jones and wife Maria Katinari of Pithari, Crete Greece
Sister: Ruth Barnes
Grandchildren: John Cornelius Jones, Sidney Jones Arrington, Zawadi Jones,
Great-Grandchildren: Asia Jones, John Cornelius Jones II, Janaiah Jones, Bryleigh Arrington, and numerous relatives and friends.

Visitation: Hicks Chapel from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 6, 2026
