Not sure what to say?

Kathy, So sorry for your loss. You told me at Eileen's service that you and John were motivated by that to make your move. I am so happy that you did, and that you can treasure those wonderfull times together. You and John are in our prayers today. Jackie and Christine

Kathy, I have been thinking of John and you a lot lately, and am so sorry to hear that John passed away before I could visit him. I know how much he loved life, and he is at peace now. My condolences to you, you were his rock. Sincerely, Cheryl, VA RN

I will miss John's corny jokes, his infectious laugh and endless good humor. My sincere sympathy is extended to Kathy, his wife and my best friend. You're in my thoughts today and that's where you will stay. So sorry for your loss. Teddi

To my dear friend, Kathy, know how sorry I am for your loss. Always enjoyed his company and sense of humor. He will be greatly missed. Keeping you in my prayers.

John's Obituary

John Evert Lindberg Jr., of Wallingford, passed away March 27, 2017 after a long illness at Masonicare with his beloved wife, Kathleen and his sister, Martha by his side.

John was born in New Haven on June 20, 1946, the eldest child of the late John Evert Lindberg Sr. and Ruth McDonald Lindberg and grew up in Guilford. In the late 1960’s, John served in the U.S. Army including a tour in Vietnam. He returned to Guilford, the town he cherished above all other places where his passion for summer, boats and fishing was exceeded only by his passion for, and knowledge of cars.

During their eight years of marriage John and Kathy had a wonderful life together, enjoying vacations on the sea, in Florida, casino trips and many activities at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Meriden. Two of the brightest lights in John’s life were his grandchildren Owen and Izzy. He also found joy with his dog, Pepper.

Up until the very late stages of his illness, John retained a remarkable capacity for memories, storytelling, and vivid recollections of times, dates, names and places. By all who knew John’s tireless good nature and infectious sense of humor, he will be greatly missed.

Among his survivors are three siblings, Martha, Stephen and Christine; five children, Jay, Tara, Matthew, Pamela and Bradley; step-children Charles and Cheryl Davis; seven grandchildren, a niece, grand niece and several cousins. John was predeceased by his wife Sandra.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday, April 8 at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Meriden, 328 Paddock Ave. in Meriden. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in John’s memory to his church, U.U.C.M. Feel free to bring a funny story and wear bright colors to his memorial service. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford.
