John was a devoted husband to Theresa, a supportive and caring father to Kevin (Allison), Karen (Matthew), Katie (John), and Janet (Stephen), and a loving pop-pop to Colin, Sean, Nicholas, Ryan, Aiden, Jackson, Connor, Cecilia, Tessa, Brianna and Christopher.
You could find him on weekends cheering on Penn State football, watching NASCAR (or really any kind of racing), or one of the Philly sports teams (just not the Flyers).
He loved molasses dainties from Douglass's fudge, making frequent road trips down the shore to stock up. And his house was always supplied with at least a month's worth of Coca-Cola.
John was an avid reader, tearing through more books in a month than most people read their entire adulthood.
He was a man of few words, and not known to wear his heart on his sleeve very often. But he had unspoken ways of showing his love, by being there for you in times of need, or doing something as simple as making sure you have the right car cleaning supplies.
He will be dearly missed by his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's Memorial Gatherings Thursday March 20, 2025 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the EDWARD J PETNER FUNERAL HOME LTD(family owned and operated) 6421 Frankford Ave Phila PA 19135and again Friday morning 9:30am to 10:00am at St. Matthew's Church 3000 Cottman Ave Phila. PA 19149. Memorial Mass 10:30am. Interment will be held privately . In lieu of flowers donations may be in John's memory to:
