John Mitsou

John Mitsou, 93, of Hartford, beloved husband of Vaya (Omer) Mitsou, passsed away Monday, December 14, 2020, at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Arnitha, Rhodes Greece, son of the late Vasilios and Tharenie Mitsou. John had lived in Hartford for many years and was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Hartford.

Besides his wife Vaya, John is survived by two sons; Vasilios Mitsou, of Hartford, and Jack Mitsou and his wife Kathy, of New Britain. A daughter, Christina Mangafas and her husband George, of Southwick, MA. Five grandchildren; Rich Mangafas, Vaya Handras, Tharanee Mitsou, Christina Sipala, and John Mitsou. His nine great grandchildren; Aaliyah, Christina, Dominic, Katerina, George, Christina, Santo, Melina, and Tharanee. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and was predeceased by four brothers and 4 sisters.

Visiting hours will be Friday, December 18, 2020, 10:00 to 11:00 AM, at the Dillon Baxter Funeral Home, 1276 Berlin Tpk. Wethersfield. A prayer service will follow at the funeral home at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Dr. George Zugravu officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
