Not sure what to say?

We was Stephen's neighbors here on Buffalo Drive. We visited him sometimes, we talked and laughed together, he is really going to be missed by us both. He was such a wonderful neighbor, I used to tell him he would get the neighbor of the year award from us. I always like to bake something to take to him. He would always smile. Once at the grocery store my husband and I was at the register, he told me, he knew I loved to bake things. Once I left a Christmas Card for him in his mailbox, he...

Hey Bro! It’s been a long time since January of ‘67 when we joined NMCB- 40. Through our 2 1/2 years with them and two tours to Vietnam. Attending our annual NMCB- 40 reunions all over the USA. Memories, some good, fond and shared. Others, not so good but still there. We’ll put you in charge of our big NMCB- 40 reunion. You choose the site?
Ooh rah! Can Do!

Steve was a selfless Patriot and a very proud Seabee, NMCB-40 member, and friend. Always positive, generous, and giving, he would light up every room/get together with his warmth and humor and create infectious laughter, fun, and smiles through his many 'Seabee' and 'life experiences' stories. He always put everyone else's welfare and happiness ahead of himself, especially his fellow Vietnam combat veterans and lifelong brothers. He is admired, loved, and missed by so many of us.

Steve was a wonderful friend. He and I inherited each other when I met and then married his good friend, Tom Reed. The three of us spent lots of wonderful hours exploring the center of the country..Michigan to Louisiana to Arizona to South Dakota. Steve wanted to go to Wounded Knee. We went there. I wanted to show him my home town so we scheduled that visit during the annual Pow Wow. He danced the night away. In Louisiana, we took Steve and Linda to Saturdaymorning with the Cajuns. ...

Rip Steve we grew up in the same neighborhood and remember many good times

Steve was a good friend. He was part of our Florida winter family for the last decade. He was polite and great to have around. I am grateful to Ed Raffel’s introduction, who introduced him to our winter family. Steve was unusually intelligent and worldly. He is missed by all including the canine members of the Florida house: Gracie Raffel and the token Jewish creature with her Hebrew name - Simcha Rubenstein. Loved and already missed by all!

My best friend ever. We served and worked together in NMCB40, Seabee battalion.
We were both builders for “D” Company but early on, switched to “H” Company and ran Special Services. That lasted for our entire service time. Made two tours of Vietnam and honorably discharged in 1969.
From that time, until he passed away, we remained best of friends.
We golfed, smoked cigars, drank bourbon, visited my homes on Long Island and stay at my home in Florida. Went to “40” reunions...

Steve was my first cousin. We always lived miles apart but we kept in touch through the years. I loved him and I will miss our chats via text. Rest in peace Steve!
