Great guy - Always fun. Taught his son John Jr. That same carefree attitude. And competitiveness. Perfect fit for sales! Wish the family all the best.

John Neville Frey, Sr., 83, passed away May 30, 2021, Cincinnati, Ohio, following a brief illness while living at Traditions at Camargo.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara C. Frey; brothers, Heron Frey and David Frey, and he is survived by his wife of 28 years, Martha H. Frey; children, Lynn Wenstrup (Steve), John Frey, Jr. (Katie), Katie Tillar (Joe), Michael Frey (Mary), Jim Frey (Karen), Tom Frey (Debra), Dan Frey (Sarah), Ann Erb (Andrew), and Peter Frey; stepsons, Dirk Schneider (Lisa), Mark Schneider (Tricia), David Schneider (Suzanne); 19 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Steve Frey of Texas.
John was born July 11, 1937, to Arthur and Jane Frey, Cincinnati, and he was the third of four boys. He attended St. Xavier High School and the University of Notre Dame and then married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Cassady, with whom he had nine children. Following Barbara’s death, John met and married Martha (Marti) Hugenberg Schneider, his loving wife, and they enjoyed 28 years together.
John was a partner at Frey Gaede & Company, a Manufacturer Rep Agency in business since 1948. When John Frey, Sr. joined his father, Art Frey, and his brother, Steve in 1962, they covered 5 Midwestern States. John was instrumental in growing the business from a 5 state coverage area to the current 25 state network. John retired as a partner in 2010 and has since served as an advisor to the remaining partners, the late Jim Gaede, John Frey, Jr. and Todd Gaede. In his 48 year career, he won multiple manufacturer and industry awards, including the prestigious Business Solutions Leadership Award in 2016, and he also served on several industry boards.
John will be remembered for his positive, outgoing and upbeat manner evidenced in his enjoyment of people and easy smile. He loved golf and spent many Sundays working on his game at Hyde Park Country Club. John enjoyed the warm friendship of his high school and college buddies with whom he often enjoyed refreshments at the nineteenth hole. True to his Cincinnati heritage, he was loyal to his alma maters and was often seen sporting his St. Xavier High School ‘55 cap or wearing a Notre Dame jacket. Most of all, he is remembered for the love and care he gave to his wife, Marti and nine children; a family life full of commotion, laughter and love.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 7th, 10 am at St. Mary Church, Hyde Park, and Christian burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at RohdeFuneral.com. Memorials can be made to Springer School or Corryville Catholic Elementary School.
