John E. Olson, Sr, age 74,of Barnum, was reunited with the love of his life on December 25, 2012 at Renaissance Rehab Center in McAllen, Texas. John was born on June 7, 1938 (or the 6th) there was some confusion on the Doctor's part. He attended school in Willow River graduating in 1956. John's nickname from childhood was Jackie. His children could always tell who knew their dad before he met mom. John was united in marriage to LuAnn D. Fenske on October 19, 1959 in Finlayson. They were married for 49 years. He held various jobs until starting a job as an orderly at the Moose Lake State Hospital, working there and ending his career at the prison after 33 years of being there. John and LuAnn lived in Willow River until 1990 when they moved to Barnum. They also wintered in Texas since 1998. John was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cloquet. John could be found at every garage sale in town looking for tools to add to his collection or books he could read over night. He also enjoyed many local sporting events with his son Johnny. His grandchildren, Ben and Alisha were the light of his life. John learned how to text so that he could pass his wisdom and humor to them in the form of a text. John brought so much humor into our lives!!John was preceded in death by his wife LuAnn Olson; his parents, Joseph and Katie Olson; brothers, Earl, Dick, Jerry, Don and an infant brother; sisters-in-law, Florence, Ruth, and Ann. John will be lovingly remembered by his children, John Olson, Jr. of Barnum and Jeanine Olson of Hastings; two grandchildren, Ben Olson of Willernie and Alisha Olson of Minneapolis; brother, Glen (Gloria) Olson of Willow River, sisters-in-law, Bunny Olson of Sturgeon Lake and Bernita Olson of Hancock; and brother-in-law Orlin (Connie) Fenske of Ottertail and many special nieces and nephews.Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am Service on Thursday, January 3, in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 515 Skyline Blvd, Cloquet with Reverend David Hormann officiating.
