Not sure what to say?

John, I’ve known you since you were 12 years old. You were always fascinated with the math and sciences. Your carpenter skills were outstanding. You came to stay with us various times over the years around the country as we were getting ready to sell our home. Hug Diane. Until we meet again

God Bless this man. He was a good friend and will be missed by a lot of people. Be free John and more pain that you had to endure. Your friend Teresa Dugan and Dennis Pace

Gonna miss you John, you wore always so nice to me, I'm still chocked with your departure, my condolences to all of the family.

John's Obituary

John Allen Palen, age 63, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, May, 13, 2025, at his home.

John was born January 7, 1962, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Jack Allen and Dorothy Marie (Petermann) Palen.

John spent his working life building things with various construction companies. He was a hard-worker, but also a man who liked to have fun. He never knew a stranger and kept good relationships with his coworkers. In his free time, John was an avid stamp collector, filling not only his home, but the homes of many unsuspecting family members with vintage and rare stamps. He was also quite fond of metal detecting and could often be found on the prowler looking for interesting bits and baubles. Though he knew how to keep busy, he never neglected his family and was a caring father and eventually grandfather. He leaves his loved ones with many happy memories that shall not soon be forgotten.

Those left to cherish John’s memory are his daughters Micahla (Sean) Anderson of Columbus and Maeghan Jenkinson of Lincoln; grandchildren Jenisis and Corbin Anderson of Columbus and MacKenzie King of Genoa; siblings Jackie (Sam) Korth of Columbus, Vicki Christensen of Columbus, and Sherry Palen (Greg) of Lusk, WY; half siblings Jack Palen Jr(Michelle), and Kathy Palen all of Iowa; brother-in-law Brad Keehn; sister-in-law Becky Petermann; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jack Palen and Dorothy (Vern) Lustgraaf; brother Paul Petermann; sister Diane Keehn; and son Joey King.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 A.M., June 7, 2025 at Victory Christian Fellowship Church.

In lieu of flower, memorials can be made to the family for future designation.
