Not sure what to say?

Dear Linda and Family, Dave was my first boss at Bendy Engineering. Straight out of school, he was so patient, kind and I learned so much from him. It meant a lot to me that he didn't mind having a female working on his team. He treated me the same. He was also quite the character, sports enthusiast and fun to work for. Years later it was a pleasure to work with Dave and fellow colleagues at Penta and renew our friendship. Linda, thank you so much for reaching out to me when we lost...

My deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to you Jeff, and your family.❤

Dave was a friend, co-worker, boss and mentor. So many memories! The West County carpool (Gene, Will, Don and Dave). There was hardly any room in the back of his small station wagon for groceries because of the golf clubs, tennis racquets, softball gear and other sports equipment. He liked to spar with people over ideas (always good naturedly!), even with my late wife, Carol (both red hair!). I have many memories: the drives home form Chicago after completing the Saturday afternoon session of...

Dave married my lifelong best friend. That connection was one of the ways that I knew him to be a wonderful husband and an awesome dad and grandad. But I was also privileged to know him first hand and to appreciate that he was also a dedicated Billiken, a passionate sports fan, a celebrated architect, a friend, and an all-around great guy. Our individual worlds were better because he was in it. Sincere condolences to the family.

I worked with Dave for over 10 years. We went golfing every week, played on the PENTA softball team, and work together on many large cement plants together. Dave was a strong Catholic and was very proud of his kids. He will be surely missed. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and the Family.

Dave was always certain of his opinions, always did a great job and his passions for family and sports were known to all.
Rest in peace, Dave.
We worked together at Bendy Engineering and Penta Engineering over decades and many, many projects thru out the US and the world. Starting with Davenport California but including Raysuite Oman.

We are so sorry for the loss of this fine man. This has to be a very trying time for Karen and her childern, watching him go. You must be relieved that he is in a better place in the hands of his father. May you and your children be blessed for your care and comfort to him.
I will always remember his light and his happy soul those years I knew and worked with him in St. Louis, his love and joy of Karen and his children, Jeff, Mark and Karen, his proudness he always expressed of...

I had the privilege of spending a lot of time in the Peer house and being coached by Mr. Peer in both baseball and soccer in my younger days. Can’t think of a better role model than Mr. Peer. I’m 50 now. The last time I spoke to him a few years ago, he still couldn’t understand why I gave up pitching and baseball in 5th grade. Hahaha. All of us childhood friends of Jeff, Mark and Karen have a special place in our hearts for Mr. Peer. He touched many lives. He was a great example of...

My family and I have many wonderful memories of Dave from our Little League days together. Deepest sympathy to all the Peers.

John's Obituary

Peer, John David, baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection, Saturday, January 17, 2026.

Beloved husband of Linda C. Peer (nee Louis). Dear father of Jeff (Abby) Peer, Mark (Richi) Peer and Karen (Jason) Dohrmann; grandfather of Kyleigh, Carson, Kaden, JD, Grant, Brady, Madison, Kylie, Lane and Ava; son of Frank H. and Marie V. Peer (nee Dierberger); brother of Rich (Pat) Peer, Barbara (Tony) Tissi, Greg Peer, the late Jan (Wally Czarnecki - deceased) Czarnecki and the late Dennis Peer; brother-in-law of Dave (Sandy - deceased) Meyer, Joe (Elaine - deceased) Charlson and the late Charlie Louis.

Dave Peer was a husband, a father, and a grandfather.  He was a fierce Catholic, a dedicated engineer and an avid sportsman.Dave was immensely proud of Jeff, Mark, and Karen.  Did he tell you that they were all college graduates AND All Americans in their sports? Probably, at least once.  Did he give Abby, Richi and Jason routine grillings about their sports background?  Just ask them!Grandchildren were infinitely interesting to Dave.  How many times did he ask about their schools, their grades and, of course, their sports teams?  Oh, how he would be enjoying watching their basketball, baseball and volleyball games (yes, and even cheerleading!) today, if he had not been robbed of the ability to do so.  Dave was totally committed to his Catholic faith . . . and, determined to understand other religions.  He read extensively.  He never learned NOT to discuss ”religion or politics.”  He was up for the debate.  He was interested in people and what they believed.  The kids remember, “You have a game on Sunday morning.  We will find a church nearby.”Engineering was Dave’s passion.  His education at St. Louis University included a B.S. in Civil Engineering and an M.S. in Engineering Mechanics. He was a licensed professional engineer in many states and a licensed structural engineer in other states.  It was a high point when he earned his Illinois Structural License - a difficult and prestigious credential.  This is important!  Listen up Grandkids.  He didn’t pass this brutal test on his first try, or even his second try . . . but he persisted until he achieved his goal.  He designed cement plants and other heavy industrial facilities across the United States and, internationally, in Argentina, in Oman in the Persian Gulf and probably in other countries that our busy family scarcely realized.  He loved the nitty gritty details - infinite calculations, S-Curves, manpower loading and deadlines.  His language was kilns, conveyors and burner buildings. What most people knew about Dave was his love of sports.  He played, he competed, he coached, he watched - baseball, soccer, golf, softball, tennis, ice hockey, volleyball.  He loved it all.  He was a proud Billiken. How lucky are we?  Dave’s life was full and well lived.  We are so proud of him.Services:   Funeral from the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 10:45 a.m. to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manchester for 11:00 a.m. Mass.
