Peer (nee Dierberger); brother of Rich (Pat) Peer, Barbara (Tony) Tissi, Greg Peer, the late Jan (Wally Czarnecki - deceased) Czarnecki and the late Dennis Peer; brother-in-law of Dave (Sandy - deceased) Meyer, Joe (Elaine - deceased) Charlson and the late Charlie Louis.
Dave Peer was a husband, a father, and a grandfather. He was a fierce Catholic, a dedicated engineer and an avid sportsman.Dave was immensely proud of Jeff, Mark, and Karen. Did he tell you that they were all college graduates AND All Americans in their sports? Probably, at least once. Did he give Abby, Richi and Jason routine grillings about their sports background? Just ask them!Grandchildren were infinitely interesting to Dave. How many times did he ask about their schools, their grades and, of course, their sports teams? Oh, how he would be enjoying watching their basketball, baseball and volleyball games (yes, and even cheerleading!) today, if he had not been robbed of the ability to do so. Dave was totally committed to his Catholic faith . . . and, determined to understand other religions. He read extensively. He never learned NOT to discuss ”religion or politics.” He was up for the debate. He was interested in people and what they believed. The kids remember, “You have a game on Sunday morning. We will find a church nearby.”Engineering was Dave’s passion. His education at St. Louis University included a B.S. in Civil Engineering and an M.S. in Engineering Mechanics. He was a licensed professional engineer in many states and a licensed structural engineer in other states. It was a high point when he earned his Illinois Structural License - a difficult and prestigious credential. This is important! Listen up Grandkids. He didn’t pass this brutal test on his first try, or even his second try . . . but he persisted until he achieved his goal. He designed cement plants and other heavy industrial facilities across the United States and, internationally, in Argentina, in Oman in the Persian Gulf and probably in other countries that our busy family scarcely realized. He loved the nitty gritty details - infinite calculations, S-Curves, manpower loading and deadlines. His language was kilns, conveyors and burner buildings. What most people knew about Dave was his love of sports. He played, he competed, he coached, he watched - baseball, soccer, golf, softball, tennis, ice hockey, volleyball. He loved it all. He was a proud Billiken. How lucky are we? Dave’s life was full and well lived. We are so proud of him.Services: Funeral from the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 10:45 a.m. to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manchester for 11:00 a.m. Mass.
