Not sure what to say?

I am sorry to have missed John's service. Had surgery and was unable to attend. John was a dear friend and am truly sorry for your loss.

I have known John for 38 years, worked with him at Bottomley and played golf all over Northern California with him. I had a chance to stay at his home where I was treated like family, his lovely wife Donna baked us a wonderful apple pie. John was a layed back and a good person. Every time I hit my 3wood I’ll remember him schooling me on club position. Thank you for your Service, Friendship and Love . Your Friend, Pete Maxin

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow, RIP Mary R Simonini

Sending sincere caring thoughts to entire family....may John rest in peace, Mary Saccullo

The times we spent together as our kids played together on Friday nights, after a long week of working
together at Bottomley Distributing. Commuting every day to San Jose with Bob Fortino we created some
great memories. I will never forget you John. R. I. P.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

I first met John in 1977 when we both worked at Bottomley. We had a lot of laughs and good times in those 25 plus years. John was truly one of the good guys, the world was a better place with John in it and he will be missed by many. My condolences to Donna and the rest of the family. Rest in peace my friend.

You will be missed my prayers for you

John was a friend. We weren’t ever super close but we worked together for a long time. I know that the last few years were rough but I got to see how much he loved his grandkids. God bless you, John.

Obituary

John's Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of John Peter Piedmont, age 80, of Gilroy, CA, who left us peacefully on August 23, 2025, at home surrounded by the love of his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

John was born on March 19, 1945, in Gilroy to Richard “Chich” and Margaret Piedmont. A proud Gilroy native, he attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Gilroy High School.  John married the love of his life, Donna (Lemos) Piedmont, and together they built 52 years of love, family, and memories.

John answered the call to serve his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War 1966-1968.

Following his service, John worked for Lucky Lager and Bottomley Distributors including managing the beer booth at the Gilroy Garlic Festival for many years. In retirement, he enjoyed working at Eagle Ridge Golf Course.

Those who knew John will remember his lifelong passion for hunting — a love he shared with friends, family and passed down to the next generation — his enjoyment of golf, and his joy for watching his granddaughters’ play softball and other activities. He was warm, welcoming, and always quick to offer a plate of food and a laugh during the holidays to friends and neighbors. He touched countless lives with his kindness and generosity.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Donna; his children, Melissa “Missy” Piedmont, Monica (Aaron) Muro, Matthew “Matt” (Joanna) Piedmont; his beloved grandkids, Elizabeth, Justice, Payton and Parker Muro, Sofia and Lila Piedmont; his sister, Loretta (Peter) Garcia; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He will also be missed by his loyal dog, Nelly.

He is reunited in heaven with his parents, Richard “Chich” and Margaret Piedmont and most recently his lifelong best friend Big Al Hazelberg.

A Memorial Mass celebrating John’s life will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church 11 1st St, Gilroy, CA 95020 followed by a celebration of life at Gilroy Veterans Memorial starting at 12:00pm located at 75 W 6th, Gilroy, CA.
