Mr. John F. Regan Jr.Former Holy Cross TeacherMr. John F. "Jack" Regan, Jr., 68 of Waterbury, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Joan (Rague) Regan.Jack was born on May 10, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late John and Martha (Matuck) Regan.Jack was raised in Watertown and was a 1962 graduate of Watertown High School. He received his Bachelor's degree in History from Springfield College, Class of 1966, and a Master's Degree in Urban Studies from Southern Connecticut State University. Jack served his country during the Vietnam War as a First Lieutenant with the 444 Transportation Company/8th Group in the Army from 1966 to 1969. He received the Bronze Star, while in Vietnam, for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces. Upon discharge Jack became an insurance agent with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. In 1976 he began an eighteen year career as a Business teacher at Holy Cross High School, in Waterbury, CT. He was Director of Development for a number of years and brought the fundraiser, "Oronoke After Dark", to Holy Cross. In addition to his wife of 45 years, Jack is survived by two sons, John "Jay" and his wife Velvet, of Beverly, MA; Jeffrey and his wife, Kathryn, of West Hartford, CT; a daughter, Jennifer, of Summerville, MA; two granddaughters, Brynley Frances of Beverly, MA, and Vivian Elizabeth of West Hartford, CT; two brothers, Colin and his wife Pat, of Watertown, CT and Dennis and his wife, Christine, of Beckett, MA; a sister-in-law, Pat Maldonado, of Huntington, NY; a brother-in-law, Jim Rague, and his wife Lenore, of Wellsboro, PA; an uncle, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Jack loved sports and was an avid fan of the New York Giants and Yankees. He was an enthusiastic reader, enjoyed playing golf and coaching basketball. He cherished spending time with his family, friends and especially his granddaughters. He always remembered the any memorable summers at his homes in Chatham, MA and Delray Beach, FL. Jack will be missed by all who knew and loved him. As he always said, everything was "perfect." A celebration of Jack's life will be held at a memorial Mass on Friday August 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., at Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 Robbins Street, Waterbury, CT. Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
