John “Rod” Rodney Kirkendall, 75 of Woodlawn, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Mr. Kirkendall was born October 1, 1950 in Canton, OH to the late John Albert and Nesta Danilkonvich Kirkendall. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Stout and Jeanne DePasquale.
Mr. Kirkendall graduated from East Canton High School in Ohio in 1968. He went to college at Case Western Reserve University and graduated with his Bachelor’s. He was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Rod sang with the Hall of Fame Chorus for several years. He also served on the board of Pathway Caring for Children and was a member of the Heritage Home Association.
Mr. Kirkendall is survived by his wife, Edee Kirkendall, whom he married July 4, 1976; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; many great-nieces; and a great-great-niece.
There will be no services at this time; however, donations may be made in memory of John “Rod” Kirkendall to Pathway Caring for Children, 4895 Dressler Road, NW Suite A, Canton, OH 44718. Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville, Virginia is serving the family of Mr. Kirkendall.

Edee, I was so sorry to learn of Rod’s passing.
I knew Rod for about 30 years. He was always helpful, kind and encouraging He was a spiritual person and always willing to share words of wisdom. Prayers and Sympathy to you.
