Not sure what to say?

Rog, what a guy! Knew him since we played baseball together in OP back in 1959. Every time I saw John as adults, he would bear hug me (ouch!) and sincerely ask about my family and what I’m doing. We would talk about sports, his family, but never would he say much about himself unless I asked. I’m sorry we lost a friend like John.

TC & family, we are so sorry for your loss and sadness. John was such a passionate guy when it came to sports, his son & his daughter. He was unforgettable in the stands at St Al’s/St Pat’s. We should all be blessed with that kind of passion. Loved seeing that guy at the games! Heaven has gained a fun loving man.

We are so sorry for your loss TC. We just found out and wanted to send out condolences. We would love to see you and do lunch or dinner. Let us know.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. In many ways "Rog" was larger than life. I knew this for sure through his wife, "TC", a dear friend and colleague for so many years. Sending love and peace to the family at this critical time and always.

He was a wonderful neighbor. Always pleasant and happy. Made us feel good to be around. He will be greatly missed.

My late wife, Margy Gerler Hixson, and her cousin Johnny, had what can only be described as a very special relationship. When she was in a remission period with a condition that would take her months later, the same that took John from us, Johnny made the trip to Indianapolis to participate in Margy's last driveway Hixson's Hostas sale, along with Liz and son Brian who also came from Chicago. It was a wonderful day of recollection, remembrances, love and caring. Over his lifetime, I am...

Cherish the stories from those who loved him so. We loved planning his visits to Kentucky as he added so much fun and laughter. RiP John.

Rog was larger than life. He never failed to light up the room. So many laughs and adventures to remember. You are gone my friend - but you will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.

I first met John at an AIMS Amusement ride safety school in 1985.This was Johns first safety school and after one of my classes he asked if we could talk. He had a tremendous thirst for knowledge about ride safety.
That talk started a 40 year friendship that lasted till he passed. When I talked to him in November, we talked about meeting at the NAARSO school at the end of January 2026. As a member of NAARSO he was always a willing volunteer to help at schools, trade shows and meetings...
