John Wesley "JW" Sampson, Sr.

John Wesley Sampson, Sr., age 63, died on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at his home in Rowland, NC.  He was born in Robeson County, NC on April 24, 1953 to the late Rev. Wilbert Sampson and the late Gertrude Lowery Sampson.  He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Lacy Earl Sampson, Wilbert Harold Sampson, and Michael Sampson.

Mr. Sampson is survived by his wife, Sherry M. Sampson of the home; his children: John Wesley Sampson, Jr. (Wendy) and Amanda Gail Sampson, all of Lumberton; his step-children: William L. Britt of Lumberton, Amy Jacobs (Kelly) of Maxton, Frankie Danielle Britt of Lumberton, and Nita Henderson of Lumberton; brothers: Eugene “Sonny” Sampson of High Point, Jimmy Sampson of Fairmont, and Edwin “Buddy” Sampson (Judy) of Pembroke; and a sister, Etiska Pinchbeck of Lumberton; eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Thompson Baptist Church Cemetery, 677 Thompson Road, in Lumberton with Marshall Griffin officiating.  A time for visitation with the family will follow the service at the graveside.
